Blogger event for Body Electrics

I am starting to plan the blogger event for April 7th and 8th in the UK, as well as working on one for all y'all NYC based bloggers and it's going to be fantastic [if I do say so myself...!] so, in celebration, I want to let you all know a little bit more about our Spring Summer collection.

Due for a mid April launch across all counters in the UK - and May in the US - Body Electrics celebrates the body in motion, enhances your individual contours and is an explosion of electrifying energy. Again, we have new product textures and some otherwordly shades and unique finishes.

I went behind the scenes of the shoot in January to find out all the details, hints and tips and interviews with the creatives and I will post these as we get closer to launch date...

Here is the interview with Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton, the fantastic photography duo. Their inspirational photographic style [showcased in the below images] was a big influence on the final Body Electrics shoot...

You collaborate with Alex Box frequently. Do you have a shared vision on beauty?

We have a shared creative passion for what we love to do and a vision to making things all beautiful and mysterious .

What are your main focuses when conducting a beauty shoot? The model, the fashion, the make-up or the technical aspects of photography, for example?

Finding a beautiful, unique face that you can transform with direction, light and magic. Working with people who have an interesting vision to what they do and bring all these elements together.

How would you describe the shooting of the Body Electrics campaign?

An electrifying emotion of fantasy

Who or what are your main influences and/or points of reference?

Our imagination and a perseverance with a vision , life experiences and other artistic expression inspires us

What does Illamasqua mean to you?

Alex's dream and passion

Body Electrics: Quick Update

The shortlist of images has been decided on [Kate, Alex, Warren and Nick being the key guys to do this] and are now currently adorning the walls of Kate's desk! I am just staring in wonder at them at the moment. Just gorgeous and so, so unique. I can't wait until these images hit the world wide web...

Body Electrics: Photoshoot Day!

Very excited as in about twenty minutes I am heading down to the Big Sky studios in Kings Cross, London for our Spring Summer 2010 collection photoshoot. I have just spoken to Kate [Brand Director] and she says that everyone began at 9am and have only just started shooting [it's nearly 2pm...!] so it's going to be a long day!

I will keep you updated via twitter whilst I am there. I am also hoping to get an interview video with the creatives behind the shoot and I will eventually put this on Youtube as a pre-Body Electrics teaser. More on that later.

I have just been googling the fabulous photographer team of Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones, who have been assigned the task of shooting this exciting new collection, and found this video on Youtube.

I was absolutely blown away - beautiful and scary in equal amounts!

Box News Flash!

Alex has been really busy lately and as such this Box News Flash covers the past fortnight!

After the excitement of the exclusive Masterclass at Selfridges last week [check out the older blog posts for a run down on this event if you haven't already!] it was straight off to Paris where Alex has been working with Karl Lagerfeld on a top secret project. She called me straight after working non stop for 25 hours - the world of fashion is a crazy place!

Alex also shared her delight in anticipation of a collaboration book with Rankin. The final details are being signed off as I type and I have seen a rough draft - it looks incredible and I will of course keep you all informed of this as the launch date looms ever closer!

She has also been working with Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones, the acclaimed fashion photographer on the Shelter Housing Project. The shoot was, according to Alex, very avant garde and beautiful. With names such as Damien Hurst, David Bailey and the Chapman brothers also involved, it sounds like a great collaboration project.

She has also collaborated on an album cover for a very well known band, a cover for Harpers Bazaar, a shoot with the gorgeous Rosie Huntington Whiteley, a calander for French Marie Claire, Another magazine, Chinese Vogue, Japanese Vogue, a PKZ campaign...

The new Powdered Metals have been a mainstay in her make-up kit - she has covered the bodies of many models and celebrities with them in the past few weeks, including the gorgeous model Baptiste Giabiconi.

Alex also wanted to thank everyone who came along to the Masterclass and said it was great to meet you - she is looking forward to judging the Mizzworthy/ Illamasqua competition [new post about this to follow]!

She's back off to Paris on Monday for more work with Karl Lagerfeld. Phew! I need a nap just thinking about it all! Keep an eye out for the next Box News Flash, coming soon...
