BAFTAS - by SPOB, a BAFTA voting member

We caught up with our  Head of Profesional Development... a BAFTA voting member, thoughts on this years BAFTAS, including her top films & must have looks for the year.

After watching 265 films in six months & attending many Q&A's with actors, writers and directors on their films. It was a joy to finally see the night arrive, a night that we all love so much to see many deserving actors coveted with the golden mask.

This year was truly a year to celebrate great cinematic achievements.

My top films

Drive
Shame
My Week with Marilyn
Extremely load and Incredibly close
We need to talk about Kevin
Senna
Tyrannosaurs
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Submarine
Attack the Block
Potiche
Moneyball

Ok I have to stop now as it sounds like an exception speech that has gone on too long....

Red Carpet

The Men

For the chaps this year on the BAFTA Red carpet it was all about velvet and silk trim collars, a scene not far from the set of a 1970's movie.

The Ladies

Monochrome was the theme for the night, with a little bit of old school glamour. I've put together a selection of my favourite looks from BAFTA 2012...

For colour and starlet quality Fearne Cotton stole the show. To create a similar look experiment with Precision Ink in Abyss, Eye Brow Cake in Thunder and Sheer Lipgloss in Torture.

For the ultimate in glamour we look to Meryl Streep. Lipstick in Test with Sheer Lipgloss in Ascend, Powder Blusher in Complex and Medium Pencil in Sophie will offer a similar statement glow.

All woman, Christina Hendricks in another figure hugging, show stopping dress. Flawless skin, fabulous red hair... The essence of vintage glam.

Tilda Swinton was channeling the look that I so want to rock.....With a striking Sam McKnight hair Creation. Powder Blusher in Complex is the perfect contour for this look.

The award for best make-up and hair team was Mark Coulier, Marese Langan and J. Roy Helland. For their work on the film, ‘Iron Lady’.

Iron Lady was a political triumph, refering the iconic Margeret Thatcher we knew from her time in Parliment. Full credits to the team for their outstanding work on this film. A big Illamasqua well done.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees for BAFTA 2012... We  look forward to seeing the upcoming releases and the make-up looks that follow.
